Spice Up Your Life
Pantone impacts and influences all colour-conscious industries including textiles, clothing, beauty and interiors. Each season the Pantone Color Institute creates a colour trend report; an overview which highlights the colours that fashion designers will feature in their collections during the major fashion weeks.
Vibrancy is the focus for SS19 and the range includes colours named Fiesta, Jester Red, Turmeric, Mango Mojito, Pepper Stem and Terrarium Moss. The Pantone Colour Of The Year is Living Coral, described as an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge
In a nutshell, I’d describe them as warm spice colours and we can expect to see clothing, interiors and spectacle frames in these empowering shades.
In the Pink
Pink will be popular in 2019 too. Pink has always had a whimsical, optimistic and energetic appeal which makes it appealing throughout the year. It can add a carefree vibe to an outfit and can add a bit of joie de vivre to greys and neutrals.
I’m wearing the STEPPERS STS-30001 in colour F630, a succulent matte raspberry shade. It is made from super-lightweight stainless steel with contrasting sides and I for one, think it looks fabulous!
Textures are a big for 2019. Lace is rather less genteel than usual this season. In particular, sliced and diced lace to give an edgy silhouette. Forget ladies who lunch. This is for sisters who slay.
There’ll will be no getting away from folk elements as we’ll see everything from crochet to macramé. Heavily influenced by the Seventies, there’ll be a definite crafty theme. But it’s high-end artisanal rather than homespun.
And we shall see feathers and fringing galore on everything from shoes to wedding dresses.
Fashion’s preoccupation with florals is inexhaustible but for 2019 it’s nearing saturation point. Prints should be worn all-over and clashed merrily with other prints. Add another print courtesy of your frames. This is not a look for wall flowers.
